Certificate III in Manufacturing Technology – MSA30208

Course Overview

The Certificate III in Manufacturing Technology (MSA30208) provides the skills needed to improve efficiency in a person’s own work role or the efficiency of a team or work area. It complements but does not duplicate qualifications supplying operational, production, maintenance, logistics, administration or other technical skills to industry.

The skills in this qualification are often known in industry under a variety of titles many of which relate to manufacturing. The most common term is lean manufacturing. However, other names for some of the system skills and techniques include agile manufacturing, lean operations, six sigma and lean six sigma.

Course Outcome

Lead and mentored by group members undertaking Certificate IV level qualification, students will be directly involved in participating in continuous improvement with the goal in achieving operational excellence through Lean Six Sigma. Participants will gain the foundational skills of what Lean Six Sigma principles have on offer. Certificate III level participants will achieve an understanding of the following Lean Six Sigma concepts:

Course Progression

Upon completion, Certificate III participants who fast develop the natural ability in building an internal continuous improvement capability that will foster benefits in the long run may be upskilled to a Certificate IV in Manufacturing Technology or Certificate IV in Competitive Systems and Practices and step up to the challenge of implementing a Lean Six Sigma project within their organisation.

Course Outline

To be awarded the Certificate III in Manufacturing Technology (MSA30208), students must demonstrate competency with a minimum successful outcome of eleven units. Students will work towards achieving tangible outcomes through a series of workplace based activities and assessments in line with participating in group projects aimed to have a significant positive impact on the business and their day-to-day work processes.
